A Brighton Beach Home Gets The Urban Turf Treatment

This project showcases how you can achieve a resort-like feel in a compact space. While Victorian coastal town, Brighton, might be known for its iconic, colourful Bathing Boxes, the owners of this home were after a more understated palette for their own yard. The lush green of our Urban Windsor range sits alongside polished concrete, granite and bluestone - the grey tones throughout the yard allowing the greenery to shine and create a manicured, resort-like space.
The landscaping was lead by Dave Franklin and his award-winning team. Having been around the block a few times (Channel 9's The Block, that is) he's a legend in the field, so it was no wonder the owners of this beautiful Brighton home left the landscaping in his knowledgeable hands. And while they were happy to put their faith in Dave, letting him lead the design, there were just a couple of requirements.
Owner Kevin is somewhat particular about where things go and how they interact. No plants were to touch the pool, water or gas pipes. Well, no worries there with Urban Turf. Our low maintenance artificial turf means no chance of an overgrown yard when you haven't had time to mow. Using Urban Turf also meant that Kevin, who suffers from hay fever, could enjoy the space (and hang out laundry on the Greek clothesline, a non-negotiable addition to this backyard!) year-round without feeling the effects of grass pollen.
When it comes to coastal locations in Victoria, it doesn't get much better than this. Sitting a few hundred metres back from Brighton Beach, the home's position means the owners get to enjoy the fresh salty air and take a dip on those dry, hot summer days. Sounds great, but it's not an ideal environment for maintaining a lush natural lawn. That's why Dave went with Urban Turf.
